Nick Grothe is a technologist and investor with a deep conviction that the next decade of wealth creation will be driven by a small number of genuinely innovative companies—and that AI-native operating models will soon make traditional investment firms obsolete.
With over a decade of experience in the Big Tech sector, including eight years in strategic management, Nick has spent his career operating at the intersection of enterprise technology, finance, and AI infrastructure. He most recently built out business operations and strategy teams covering ads monetization and overall AI infrastructure at Meta. Prior to his time at Meta, he drove strategic financial initiatives within Channel Sales Finance at Apple, developing a deep expertise in how foundational technology drives structural business value.
His investment philosophy emerged from first principles: identify the handful of companies truly redefining industries, build concentrated positions, and hold through volatility with strict, machine-enforced discipline. He has actively managed a personal, innovation-focused equity portfolio using this exact methodology—the same framework that now forms the core of the Grothe Capital Investment Policy Statement (IPS).
Currently pursuing the CFA designation to pair traditional institutional rigor with his Silicon Valley expertise, Nick founded Grothe Capital with a clear, uncompromising mandate. Designed as an incubator fund launching privately in 2027 and opening to the public in 2028, Grothe Capital runs a disciplined, rules-based innovation strategy at institutional quality, leveraging AI to execute its core operations at a fraction of traditional costs.

CIO / Orchestrator
Runs overall strategy, coordinates the agent system, and ensures investment decisions align with the IPS. Eagle is the governing intelligence — final review before any capital deployment.

Product Lead — Innovation Research
Owns the innovation scoring framework. Falcon researches companies, maintains the 12-metric quantitative scoring model, and produces the Innovation Universe Stack Rank — the core engine of our investment selection process.
Condor
Product Lead — Macro
Runs the Market Climate Score (MCS) weekly — a composite 0–100 macro regime signal across five pillars. Condor's output determines the fund's cash target before any equity is purchased or rebalanced.
Raven
COO / Financial Operations
Manages fund operations end to end: P&L tracking, portfolio reporting, performance attribution, and audit trail maintenance. Raven keeps the books clean and the numbers accurate.
Hawk
CMO — Content & Distribution
Drives the content strategy and audience growth engine. Hawk produces research, commentary, and thought leadership across LinkedIn and X — building the inbound funnel for future LP interest.
Phoenix
Product Lead — Quantitative Research
Develops systematic, data-driven investment overlays and backtesting infrastructure. Phoenix layers algorithmic signals on top of the core innovation framework to sharpen entry and exit timing.
Osprey
Lead Engineer — Technology & Web
Owns the firm's technology stack — public web presence, internal tooling, data pipelines, and agent infrastructure. Forge built this site and maintains the systems that keep Grothe Capital running at institutional quality.
Owl
CCO — Chief Compliance Officer
Building the compliance infrastructure for SEC / California DFPI registration. Owl will monitor for regulatory obligations, maintain IPS compliance, and document everything needed for RIA and Reg D filing.
Heron
Head of Investor Relations
Will manage all LP relationships, investor onboarding, quarterly letters, and capital communications. Heron is the face of Grothe Capital to external investors.
